Today I bring you my Healthy Chai Tea Latte recipe because I love and cherish you and I think you deserve this absolutely delicious beverage in your life.
I am very open about my love for all things beverages. One of my potential future endeavors is a biscuit and beverages cafe. In fact, I already have a name picked out for this café and I have mentally started creating the logo and saving décor ideas on Pinterest. So if this café ever comes to fruition I will let you know. I mean it is practically already a brick and mortar place since I have saved ideas on Pinterest right? In the meantime I will continue being a beverage connoisseur which led me to a recent internet wild goose chase. I was hoping to find a healthy chai latte mix that I could enjoy daily while my toddler has her quiet time and when I try to sneak in some work time.
Sure, it would be very easy to pick up some chai tea concentrate at the store but as I always say, check ingredient lists and nutrition labels. Those pre-made chai mixes are often filled with sugar. Let’s say I won the lottery and decided to spend $7 on a latte every day, I would still run into the problem of there being way too much sugar. I looked up how much sugar is in a grande chai tea latte at a popular coffee shop and guess how much sugar it had….42 GRAMS! To put that in perspective, a 12 ounce can of Mountain Dew contains 46 grams! I was not looking to drink mounds of sugar, I wanted a drink that was warm and comforting but doubled as a health boost! So my search continued. Here are a few criteria I was looking for in a chai mix:
I had tried a brand in the past that had a healthy chai latte mix that included adaptogens, mushrooms and probiotics but that mix was too peppery for me. I liked that the mix had those wonderful super food additions but it was not a total win. As I scoured the internet, I was feeling slightly overwhelmed and unsure if I even wanted to spend money on products that I was not even sure if I was going to enjoy the taste. Customer reviews on some of these products were certainly not selling me on the items. One very honest reviewer described one of the mixes as “muddy swamp water.” I wanted a healthy drink but I will never sacrifice my taste buds.
I simply wanted a drink that was full of brain boosting, body healing, mind empowering health benefits so I went into my laboratory (say it like Dexter from Dexter’s Laboratory, do you remember that show!?) also known as my kitchen and started creating the healthiest, best tasting chai tea latte on the planet! …I might be a little biased…you can decide!
My Frankenstein chai tea latte was born thanks to these wonderful products. The Four Sigmatic Chai Latte Mix accompanied by one scoop of The Mushroom Master Blend The Mushroom Master Blend and one tea bag of STASH Decaf Chai Spice. I also highly recommend using a Frother with beverages like this, it is a very helpful kitchen gadget!
The secret behind this healthy chai tea latte is…a blend of antioxidant rich spices AND…MUSHROOMS!
Okay stop making that face, mushrooms are tasty and I promise you that this chai does not taste like a cup of fungi. I wish I included testimonials in this post because I have tested this recipe on others and NO ONE said it tasted like mushrooms. Come on, you have to believe me!
Mushrooms are full of health benefits. They can support memory and focus, help manage stress, supports a healthy immune system, they contain antioxidants and they help maintain a healthy gut. Lucky for you, this chai recipe contains a wide variety of mushrooms all contributing to the healthy qualities of this drink: Reishi, Turkey Tail, Lion’s Mane, Cordyceps, Chaga, King Trumpet, Maitake, Antrodia Camphorata, Shiitake, and Agaricus Blazei.
If you are having some difficulty getting past the fact that there will be mushroom powders in this latte then maybe just focus on more familiar ingredients such as cinnamon and ginger, which are incredible super foods that help support a healthy immune system, contain anti-inflammatory properties and antioxidants as well!

Healthy Chai Tea Latte Recipe
Bring water to a rolling boil on stovetop (or a quick 3 minutes in the microwave works too) then grab your favorite mug and fill it with the water
Place tea bag in hot water and allow to steep for at least 3 minutes (I keep a kitchen towel over the top of my glass to keep the liquid hot
while it steeps)
Add plant-based milk
Add Four Sigmatic Chai Latte Mix
Add one scoop of mushroom master blend
Add sweetener of choice
Mix with the frother and enjoy!
*All ratios can be changed depending on your taste preferences or what size mug you are using
